Jeffrey Friedl’s Image Metadata Viewer returns a complete ExifTool output, nicely formatted.
This site provides you with a comprehensive view of your metadata, from either files on your hard drive or the URL of an image on the web. Friedl is well known as the developer of several useful Lightroom plugins. That suggests that you’re uploading your file to a likely trustworthy site, run by a reputable person. This is the best of the online viewers per se, and the only one I can really recommend. Friedl pays the expenses himself, so don’t abuse his generosity. Save the URL for that rainy day when you actually need a service like this.

It’s available for free on his test site. This viewer has especially nice presentation features. You can run it on your own server, too, if you want. Flickr Flcikrįlickr, love it or hate it, is a huge player in online photo management. If I haven’t mentioned it before, the service (mostly) honors embedded metadata.

Update: Reader José Oliver-Didier Added in the comments that “In Flickr you can add “/meta” (without the quotes) to the URL of a Flickr photo page and get a nice table with the file metadata.” Indeed, you can. What’s more, if you call up metadata this way you inexplicably get better formatting. It’s a fair bit easier to read than the results of the “Show EXIF” link.

If your PC doesn't support the Exif format on its own, you should use a separate program for the task.The editor in Google photos will display the caption of your photo. However, it will only work properly on Windows if it is able to read the proper formats for the image file you are trying to upload. Exif Viewer is one of the easiest programs for Windows to use in this respect. However, you should check to see if your file is in one of those formats before you try and view it in the software.

There are many other software supports for Exif files other than the Windows version of Exif Viewer. This way you can access this data directly instead of having to browse through long file sections in Windows. The Exif Viewer will then tell you where the data from your file is stored in. To upload your image, simply copy the entire document and paste into the Exif Viewer. In that case you need to click on one of those small boxes with your mouse, or click on the "PDF" icon on the browser's toolbar to access the editor.

One thing to keep in mind is that some browsers, such as Internet Explorer, will not automatically display the HTML code from an uploaded JPEG or text file. The process is quite simple, but there are some things you should know to make the most out of your Exif Viewer. You should be able to select images in the Exif Viewer and then save them to your desktop folder just like you would save any other image. One of the best ways to view these images in Firefox is to download them into your desktop folder and then open up the Exif Viewer. You can find this included with Firefox for free and will be sure to love it, especially if you view a lot of digital images such as pictures of family members or your favorite places. This can be fixed by adding the Exif Viewer plug-in. If you have used Firefox before, you may find that viewing Exif tags in your Firefox toolbar is either confusing or impossible.
